Solidarity Table Banking Services, a community bank comprised of groups practicing table banking, is being set-up as a strategy for supporting table bankers in the 47 counties.  Its specific objectives are to:

  1. Boost the funds available to table bankers for borrowing by giving loans to member table banking groups.
  2. Undertake capacity building of table bankers in the county
  3. Harmonize table banking concept and practices in the county.

Upon training more than 20 groups over a period of 7 months, SIT successfully led the groups toward the formation of a community bank or a district board in 2010 under the name “Solidarity Table Banking Services”.

Approving the formation of the bank, the Poverty Eradication Commission stated:

“The Commission is impressed at the stage you have reached towards the formation of the district board…”

The community bank continues to grow both in membership and share contributions.
